We like to say that each event tells a story. It could be a true-to-life event or conjured in a midsummer night's vision. We are here to create the looking glass. A stir is created... anticipation builds... and drama is unleashed!

Vision and drama are the essence of our design philosophy. We help to seduce your guests, capture their spirits and enhance their experience.

R. Jack Balthazar is a full-service design studio specializing in couture flowers and ornamentation.

Our design process is organic in nature and typically starts with a feeling. It begins with a vision of the event, whether it is a nuptial, an anniversary, or a special gathering among friends.

Our first meeting is at the event location. If it is an outdoor event, we will talk about how the setting sun will reflect warm hues of Tuscan orange over the courtyard where you will welcome your guests. "We'll need collections of aged urns overflowing with creamy Vendela roses, black mission figs and silvery lamb's ears. We'll need burlap overlays trimmed with woven lavender over the cocktail tables. And for the service bar, we'll bring in a fabulous flea market find, an off-white slightly weathered ceramic sculpture of a boy holding an urn, and as an ode to Bacchus, we'll fill the urn with champagne grapes."

The process of transforming the vision into the drama begins. Once we have a vision of the scale and size of your event, we'll need to talk details.

If it's a wedding, who is your dress by? What are the maids wearing? If you haven't gotten that far, we can talk about it together. It is important for us to understand your clothing style for the day because personal flowers are an accessory, they should not overpower what you or your maids are wearing. That is, unless you want us to create ball gown skirts made entirely of lemon leaves with rose encrusted sash...

If it's a birthday party for a hundred of your closest friends in an old bank-district building loft, we'll need to create wall panels paved with hundred of flowers for a gallery effect.

It's all about the DRAMA! Drama, drama, DRAMA!

Drama is about filling the entire ballroom with candles and keeping the doors shut until dinner is served. When the doors finally open, the room is aglow under candlelight, tuxedo-clad waiters stand sentry ready to escort your guests to their seats while the sound of the band playing old standards is heard in the air.

Your guests have come to see how the story plays out; they have received the perfect invite and bought the perfect dress to go with the perfect shoes. R. Jack Balthazar is here to provide you with the drama.
